KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia-Cambodia-Thailand (MCT) submarine cable laying works are expected to be completed and be in service by the first quarter of 2017.
Telekom Malaysia Bhd
(TM) said in a statement that the 1,300 km cable system represented another major step towards enhancing Asean connectivity.
The MCT submarine cable system laying works commenced in Cherating, Pahang and would link cable landing stations in Rayong (Thailand) and Sihanoukville (Cambodia), it said.
“It is also a significant milestone for Cambodia as it will be Cambodia’s first cable system,” it said.
TM, an experienced investor in the domestic, regional and global submarine cable development, owned and leased over 20 submarine cable systems spanning more than 200,000 fibre-route miles around the globe. – Bernama
