Digi launches Internet rollover postpaid plan

KUALA LUMPUR: Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd upped the ante in the competitive cellular phone market with the launch of its new Digi Postpaid plans offering more Internet quota and also the ability to rollover unused quota to enjoy in the following month.

Digi said on Tuesday the new plan, simply called Digi Postpaid, would add more value to customers with “a strong, growing appetite for internet access and digital services to match their social lifestyle”.

The new Digi Postpaid plans would have something for all user profiles from any age group including frequent travellers.

Digi chief marketing officer Christian Thrane said the company was always closely following customer demand to find new and innovative ways of serving our customers better with products and services that matter to them.

“With Extra Internet quota and Internet Rollover, we’re addressing today’s customer demands.”

“But it’s more than just giving customers extra Internet quota – we also asked ourselves, ‘what can we do better to change the way this industry thinks and serves customers?’ We’re starting with Internet Rollover – if they didn’t use their full quota, they shouldn’t lose it. But to give the best experience for customers, we combined that with other great digital services and features that will help them save money so they can enjoy Internet the way they really want to,” Thrane said.

Digi said when combined with other features like unlimited social messaging and access to the best apps and digital services from Digi such as the Digi Music Freedom pass and Capture cloud storage, “this presents a compelling product for customers to benefit from”.

Digi Postpaid customers will also enjoy other benefits such as bundled subscription to iflix’s popular streaming video service as well as the convenience of buying the apps they want on Google Play Store without the need for a credit card.

It said customers who sign up for the new Digi Postpaid plan would enjoy consistent high-speed Internet access through Malaysia’s widest 4G LTE network while remaining future-ready for Digi’s latest innovative offerings in LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) and Voice-over-WiFi (VoWiFi).

Digi’s 4G LTE network continues to grow and now covers 72% of populated areas in Malaysia and is available in 150 major cities and towns.

Digi’s LTE-A coverage can current serve 31% of Malaysians and is focused on key market centres before stretching out to secondary towns as part of the company’s aggressive rollout plan. Late last year, Digi announced that it has begun testing VoLTE technology and expects both VoLTE and VoWiFi to be rolled out later this year.

Another key feature for Digi customers to enjoy is the ability to have more control over their call and Internet plans via the MyDigi app which is available on the Android and iOS platforms. The app allows customers to monitor their usage, pay bills for themselves as well as other Digi subscribers and switch certain features on or off. New features to the app are added regularly to allow customers the convenience of managing their accounts quickly and easily.

For frequent and budget travellers, Digi’s new Internet roaming rates that start from as low as RM10 per day.

“The new Digi Postpaid plans bring a lot to the table for our customers. This is our most comprehensive offering and we’re confident it will be well received,” Thrane said.

“We’ve made some positive strides in gaining market share in the postpaid segment and this is down to our product team working hard to find the best combination of features that customers want. The efforts of our network team aggressively rolling out 4G LTE sites across the country making us now the widest 4G LTE network in Malaysia is also a huge value proposition for customers to make the switch to Digi.”

The new Digi Postpaid plans start from only RM28 per month with several options to cater to every need, be it more calls or more Internet.

New and existing customers who switch to the new Digi Postpaid before June 30 will enjoy promotional discounts, to enjoy for life.
