Spanish ideals influence the world for 300 years

THE world is square. That is the way the Spanish have designed their zocalo, the town square where the church, the town hall and all people gather around the square in the evenings beneath the trees to trade or chat with each other.

Travelling in Mexico in mid-summer, I have come to realise how strong the Spanish have exerted their influence in 300 years of conquest.
