Hwa Tai to market London Biscuits’ Swiss rolls

KUALA LUMPUR: London Biscuits Bhd has appointed Hwa Tai Distribution Sdn Bhd to market and distribute its best-selling product – the Lonbisco Swiss rolls.

Speaking to reporters after announcing the collaboration yesterday, London Biscuits director Datuk Liew Yew Cheng said the tie-up would result in streamlined operations where Hwa Tai Distribution would become a key distributor to mini-markets, supermarkets and hypermarkets in Peninsular Malaysia for its Swiss rolls.

Hwa Tai Distribution is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hwa Tai Industries Bhd.

At the same event, London Biscuits also entered into an agreement to produce its cakes at Hwa Tai Industries’ facilities.“We are constantly looking for ways to grow and increase the range of products that we can offer to customers, and this includes coming up with new products.

“Our collaboration with London Biscuits will provide added value by offering a new range of products,” Hwa Tai Industries group chief executive director Airique Soo said.

The manufacturing arrangement is expected to enable London Biscuits to supplement the output from its current four fully-automated and two semi-automated plants in Johor.

“This manufacturing agreement with Hwa Tai Industries is very significant as it not only gives us instant expanded production capacity but also the opportunity to create a new range of cakes to offer greater choices and variety to our customers.
