TOKYO: Nippon Oil Corp, Japan's biggest refiner, plans to expand its fuel export potential by 50% to a tenth of total production capacity this business year, seeking sales in China and South-East Asia as domestic demand falls.

Nippon Oil said it would increase export capacity to 120,000 barrels a day in the year that started on April 1. The Tokyo-based company said yesterday it would spend 1.1 billion yen (US$9.4mil) to upgrade export facilities including pipelines and pumps at five refineries in Japan.
