French telecoms network equipment maker Alcatel will be investing more than RM200mil over the next five years to develop Malaysia as the hub for its third-generation (3G)/mobile business in South-East Asia.
The new investment would primarily be used to provide support and expertise for 3G/mobile business and develop new mobile applications, particularly for 3G communications, with local partners in Malaysia, said Alcatel executive vice-president Ron Spithill.
