Oil jumps 7% on escalating Mideast airstrikes


Brent futures settled US$6.65, or 7.91%, higher to US$90.74 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate crude gained US$5.20, or 6.56%, to US$84.46 a barrel.

NEW YORK: Oil prices climbed about 7% on Wednesday as airstrikes resumed in the Middle East, adding to worries about dwindling supply as US government data showed domestic crude inventories fell to a multi-year low.

Brent futures settled US$6.65, or 7.91%, higher to US$90.74 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate crude gained US$5.20, or 6.56%, to US$84.46 a barrel.
