Vietnam to universalise preschool education for children aged five and six

HANOI: A decree on universalising preschool education for children aged five and six in Vietnam will take effect on Nov 1, with eligible children entitled to tuition exemptions, reductions and financial support, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Thursday (Oct 29).

Under the decree, the state will prioritise investment and ensure the necessary conditions for universal preschool education for this age group.

The programme will follow the preschool curriculum issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and be implemented through institutions within the national education system and educational institutions under the armed forces.

Teachers, education managers and other personnel involved in the programme will receive benefits and support in line with their positions, duties and work locations, according to the decree.

The decree also provides tax and land incentives for organisations, businesses, communities, international organisations, foreign individuals and overseas Vietnamese that support universal preschool education, the report said. - Xinhua
