PHNOM PENH: A team of doctors and midwives from the Krang Tes Health Centre undertook a desperate race against time Saturday (Oct 17), crossing mountains and streams to reach a pregnant woman in a remote part of Mondulkiri who had gone into labour.
crossed mountains and several streams to reach a woman in labour at a remote farm shelter, successfully delivering her baby with both mother and child safe on Saturday (Oct 17).

According to the Mondulkiri Provincial Department of Information, the woman lived in an isolated area, about 50 kilometres from the health centre.
Despite the difficult journey, the midwifery team made its way to the location and provided the necessary medical care, assisting the woman with the delivery at a makeshift farm shelter. Both mother and baby came through the birth safely.

“The route to the location was extremely difficult, requiring travel along muddy tracks and across mountains, rocky terrain and numerous streams,” the department said.
The mother and baby are now in good health and remain under medical observation by staff from the health centre. - The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
