Vietnam sets two inflation scenarios for 2026

HANOI (Xinhua) -- The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance has developed two inflation scenarios for 2026, projecting inflation at 4.5 per cent and 4.8 per cent, respectively, local media said on Monday.

The State Bank of Vietnam forecasts average inflation for the full year at 4.5-5 per cent, while international organisations project it at 4.2-5.5 per cent, the report said.

Vietnam's consumer price index rose by an average of 4.52 per cent year on year in the first nine months of 2026, while core inflation increased by 4.26 per cent, according to the ministry.

To maintain price stability in the remaining months of the year, the ministry proposed maintaining appropriate tax and fee exemptions, reductions and deferrals, while managing credit appropriately and prioritising funding for production and business activities. -- Xinhua
