SEOUL: A British man in his 30s who fled to his home country after stabbing a woman in Seoul has been arrested in the United Kingdom, Korean police said Saturday (Oct 10).

The Korean National Police Agency said the suspect was arrested in the UK on Thursday, local time, in cooperation with the UK’s National Extradition Unit (NEU).

The man allegedly stabbed a woman in her 20s in the neck at a university in Seoul at about 11.50am on Sept 29, before leaving Korea. The woman suffered minor neck injuries.

Police issued an Interpol Red Notice shortly after the suspect fled the country. They later confirmed that he had entered the UK through Interpol cooperation.

A Korean police liaison officer stationed in the UK worked closely with the NEU to track down the suspect.

The Korean National Police Agency said it would work with the Ministry of Justice and other relevant agencies to expedite his extradition to Korea. - The Korea Herald/ANN
