Singapore PM arrives in Brunei for defence ties, golden jubilee

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong arrived in Brunei Darussalam Friday (Oct 9) night to attend the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Brunei-Singapore Defence Relations.

Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah Adam welcomed the Singapore premier, his wife Loo Tze Lui, and the Singapore delegation at Brunei International Airport.

Also present to welcome the guests were Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Manpower and Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Ahmaddin Abdul Rahman and his spouse, and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Halbi Mohd Yussof and his spouse.

Among those in attendance were Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Commander Major General Dato Paduka Seri Muhammad Haszaimi Bol Hassan, Royal Brunei Police Force Commissioner Dato Paduka Seri Awang Sulaiman Alidin, and permanent secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with their spouses.

The golden jubilee celebration will be held on Saturday at the Royal Brunei Navy Naval Base in Muara, marking 50 years of defence relations between the two countries. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
