Asia Influential Award strengthens cross-border business ties

KUALA LUMPUR: The Asia Influential Award 2026 brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs and government representatives from across Asia to celebrate achievement and foster cross-border business collaboration at the Andaman Grand Ballroom here on Oct 9.

Now in its second edition, the awards programme has evolved from the ASEAN Influencer Award into the Asia Influential Award, reflecting its expanding international reach and ambition to foster greater collaboration among business communities across the region.

Organising chairlady Dr (H.C) Jann Lim Shiek Ni said the platform aims to recognise outstanding entrepreneurs, business leaders and brands while showcasing their achievements and success stories to a wider international audience.

She said the initiative also provides opportunities for businesses to expand their networks, explore new markets and establish strategic partnerships with industry players from different countries.

The selection process comprises three stages, beginning with nominations, followed by an evaluation conducted by judges from different countries.

Jann said the assessment aims to identify businesses and individuals with proven achievements and a strong track record in their respective fields.

Among the eligibility criteria, nominated companies must have been in operation for more than three years and meet the organiser's specified business performance requirements.

This year's event recognises a total of 35 award recipients across various categories, celebrating achievements in business, leadership, healthcare and community development.

Among the recipients featured in the awards campaign are:

1. Cindi King Chan – Outstanding City Leadership; Mayor of Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines.

2. Datuk Cheah Soon Kit – Leader Award; Malaysian badminton legend and coach.

3. Rusmin Lawin – Leader Award; President of FIABCI Asia Pacific for 2024–2026.

4. Hendric Koo – Hospital Excellence, representing CMH Specialist Hospital.

5. Nina Mikova – Emerging Star.

The event brought together representatives from several countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, China, Taiwan, Malaysia and India, highlighting the platform's growing international network.

The participation of government representatives and leaders from different countries also created opportunities to strengthen international relationships and encourage the exchange of ideas on business development and industry growth.

Jann said the organiser intends to make the awards an annual event, providing a continuing platform for entrepreneurs and brands to gain recognition while building connections beyond their domestic markets.

Beyond celebrating achievements, the initiative seeks to highlight inspiring entrepreneurial journeys, encourage innovation and help businesses strengthen their competitiveness in the wider Asian market.

Through its expanding international network, the Asia Influential Award 2026 aims to strengthen connections among business communities, encourage cross-border collaboration and create opportunities for sustainable growth across the region.
