VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon: What started as a domestic dispute over a locked door ended in tragedy on Thursday (Oct 8) morning, after a 45-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her nephew in Barangay Migcawayan, Damulog, Bukidnon.

The Damulog municipal police station, under officer-in-charge Capt. Marlon Subarian, said the incident happened at around 8.50am in Purok 3.

Master Sgt. Jeffry Plaida, the case investigator, told the Inquirer over the phone that the victim and the 35-year-old male suspect—who are aunt and nephew—live as neighbours in the area.

The argument erupted after the aunt allegedly padlocked the suspect’s grandmother inside the house and left her alone.

Plaida said that based on the suspect’s statement, he flew into a rage upon discovering that his grandmother had been locked inside and left to herself.

Enraged by the action, the suspect confronted the victim, resulting in the fatal attack.

The victim sustained serious stab wounds to the neck and chest and was rushed to the nearest hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Following the incident, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to a barangay official. At around 9.15am a village youth official turned over the suspect to the police station.

Police are now coordinating with the victim’s immediate family for the execution of affidavits and formal complaints. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
