Indian carriers suspend Riyadh flights after Houthi attacks

HYDERABAD, (India): (Bernama) Indian carriers have suspended services to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, until Saturday (Oct 10) following attacks by Yemen’s Houthi group on two major airport facilities in the kingdom.

An Air India flight from New Delhi to Riyadh turned back mid-way following reports of a Houthi attack on the city’s main airport, news agency PTI reported on Thursday (Oct 8).

IndiGo and Air India Group have suspended flights to and from Riyadh until Oct 10, Indian media reported.

"We continue to monitor the situation closely,” an Air India Express spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh issued an advisory to its nationals.

"In view of the current situation, all Indian nationals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are advised to remain alert and vigilant, stay indoors as necessary, and follow the instructions issued by local authorities through official channels,” it said.

The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said three civilians were killed and 36 injured in Houthi attacks on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. - Bernama
