BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Air quality across Brunei remained at moderate levels on Thursday (Oct 8) morning, although Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) readings increased in all four districts between 9am and 11am.
At 11am, Belait recorded the highest PSI at 73, followed by Tutong at 72, while Brunei-Muara and Temburong both recorded 70.
The readings were higher than those recorded at 9am, when Brunei-Muara stood at 67, Belait at 57, Temburong at 73 and Tutong at 65.
Temburong was the only district to record an improvement, with its PSI falling three points from 73 to 70. Belait recorded the largest increase, rising 16 points from 57 to 73, followed by Tutong, which increased seven points from 65 to 72, and Brunei-Muara, which rose three points from 67 to 70.
Under the PSI classification, readings between 51 and 100 indicate moderate air quality, while readings below 50 are classified as good. Readings from 101 to 200 are considered unhealthy.
The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) has incorporated PM2.5 concentrations into PSI reporting since Sept 1 and continues to issue air quality updates five times daily during the hazy period.- Borneo Bulletin/ANN
