Filipino man fined for carrying vape products without permit at Brunei airport


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A Philippine national was fined BND28,570 after pleading guilty to possessing vape juice and vape devices without a valid permit.

John Christopher Castro was charged before Magistrate Normazdina Md Maksub at the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrates’ Court on Monday (Oct 5).

Castro was found in possession of 38 bottles of vape juice flavouring and three vape devices at the passenger arrivals section of Brunei International Airport on Oct 3 at around 1.15am.

The offence was prosecuted by an officer from the Royal Customs and Excise Department under Section 146(1)(d) of the Excise Order 2006, for possessing the items without a valid licence or permit.

The court imposed a fine of BND28,570, with a 13-month prison term in default of payment.

The seized vape devices and vape juice were ordered forfeited to the government for disposal. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
