Moderate earthquake recorded in north-western Myanmar


YANGON: A moderate earthquake was recorded near Kalewa in Sagaing Region on the night of October 2, according to a statement issued by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

The earthquake occurred at 11:25:32 pm. on October 2, 2026, with its epicentre located in Myanmar, north-east of the Hakha Seismological Station.

The earthquake was measured at magnitude 4.4 and originated at a depth of approximately 77 kilometres. Its epicenter was recorded at 23.15° North latitude and 94.36° East longitude, according to the DMH. - Eleven Media/ANN
