Microdrama training for media professionals

THE Infocomm Media Development Authority and TikTok Singapore launched a programme to train media professionals in producing microdramas, including live-action and artificial intelligence-animated formats.

The programme will equip professionals with the skills and tools to produce 50 to 100 episodes, each running one to three minutes, the two parties said in a statement yesterday.

The first cohort will comprise professionals from 20 companies, with the programme potentially expanding in the future.

Over six to nine months, participants will take part in mentorships, workshops and masterclasses led by TikTok and its partners.

Training will cover storytelling techniques such as designing cliffhangers, as well as the responsible use of technology, including AI.

About 87% of people in Singapore aged 15 and above access major social video platforms including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook each week, with short-form video accounting for an increasing share of their viewing and engagement, according to the statement. — Xinhua
