MANILA: Fresh off his golden run at the Asian Games, two-time Olympic gold medallist Carlos Yulo announced Monday (Sept 28) that he is engaged to longtime partner Chloe San Jose.
In a social media post, gymnast Yulo revealed that he proposed last December, sharing details of the lavish setup in Tagaytay where he got down on one knee and asked San Jose to marry him.
“Nine months ago… She said ‘Yes,’” Yulo said. “And all I can say and all I can feel, is that I am truly blessed. Blessed to love you. Blessed to be loved by you. Blessed to have you as my fiancé and, soon, as my forever.”
Yulo gave San Jose two engagement rings to symbolise his historic campaign at the Paris Olympics, where San Jose was by his side throughout his double gold achievement.
San Jose said in her own post that they had kept the engagement a secret for the past year, “knowing that one day we’d finally share it with the world.”
“I got to watch you chase your dreams, and you let me be beside you through the biggest moments of your life. We grew up together. We learned together. We fought for each other, protected each other, supported each other, and built a life of our own,” she also said.
The couple, who have been together since 2020, have not released details about their wedding.
San Jose has been a visible source of support for Yulo at his competitions and was also present during his double-gold performance at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya last week. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
