Making headway into Asean: Homegrown label brik aims to go further into South-East Asia after breaking into the Indonesian market

Trendy brand brik celebrates its third anniversary by breaking into new markets and also celebrates its first-ever apparel line together with its existing fashion handbags.

Established in 2023, Malaysian style fashion house brïk has won many hearts with exquisite lifestyle handbags. Celebrating its third anniversary in August this year, they are now also moving into an apparel line. On top of that, the homegrown brand has recently entered the Indonesian market and is now hoping to do the same in Singapore and Thailand.

Founded by sister duo Sabrina Ridzal and Syakira Ridzal in 2023, the brand has quietly grown from a viral online drop into a full-blown local cultural staple, crossing a new milestone of over 100,000 bags sold. Indeed, a brilliant way to celebrate their third anniversary.

"Colour has always been part of brïk's DNA," share co-founders Sabrina and Syakira. "This year, we're having more fun with it through bolder combinations, patterns, textures, and materials.

""Now, to celebrate brik's third anniversary, the brand aims to liven things up once again with our milestone  collection, Pattern Play."

Moving beyond the solid colour-blocking that first put them on the map, Pattern Play is an unapologetic dive into prints, textures, and new dimensions. Spanning 36 pieces in total, the collection brings together three brand-new handbag designs (the Posie, Pixie, and Sundae bags) alongside refreshed accessories like the Sundae Cardholder and Colourblock Compact Pal.

On top of that, it also marks brïk’s official entry into apparel. Introducing the Cardi Knit series—featuring Polka Dots, Script, Stripes, and Pin variations—the brand is now bridging everyday utility with statement style, offering a complete, mix-and-match wardrobe where clothes and accessories speak the exact same visual language.

"The brand name 'Pattern Play' gives us more room to experiment, try new things, and have a little more fun with what we create. Three years in, we're excited for whatever comes next — continuing to create things we're proud of, trying new ideas, and hopefully inspiring others to have a little fun along the way."

During a special launch in Bangsar, Syakira added: "From the beginning, this event was to embrace love in all its forms. We wanted to redefine what love looks like, feels like, and how it’s expressed- highlighting love within sisterhood, friendship, and the bonds that make life meaningful.

"At brïk, love for our customers and community has always been our guiding principle. As we step into our second year, we hoped to bring that love to life through this offline pop-up, creating a space for you to celebrate the people closest to your heart."

For the first time, as part of its anniversary plans, brit has taken up a physical space for a full two weeks, running from Sept 28 to Oct 11 at APW Bangsar (open daily from 12pm to 8pm for the duration)

For the record, established in 2023, brïk has been rooted in a simple but ambitious vision: to grow a brand that holds space for more than just beautiful pieces. One that reflects care, connection, and calm confidence. brïk is a homegrown fashion brand known for its practical minimalist touch blended with a hint of playfulness; brïk bags stand out as expressive pieces thanks to the brand’s signature use of vibrant colors.
