Brunei scouts mark World Peace Day with Muara Beach clean-up

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Brunei Darussalam National Scouts Association (PPNBD) marked World Peace Day 2026 at Muara Beach last Sunday (Sept 27), bringing together Scouts and their families for activities promoting peace, fellowship and environmental awareness.

Observed annually on Sept 21, World Peace Day was commemorated alongside several Scout initiatives, including World Scarf Day, World Cleanup Day, Plastic Tide Turners and Scout Awareness.

The event was officiated by guest of honour Brunei-Muara District Officer Pengiran Muhammad Ameer Mubarak Hashim.

Also in attendance were PPNBD President ACP (Rtd) Murad Abdul Hadi; PPNBD Chief Commissioner Junaidi Hussin; members of the National Scout Council; commissioners, Scout leaders and members, as well as parents and family members.

The celebration began with the launch of the World Peace Day activities, followed by a tour of an exhibition organised by the PPNBD Collectors Club. The exhibition showcased the club’s collections and activities, highlighting its efforts to preserve its collections.

The event also featured games and quizzes to encourage interaction and strengthen fellowship, while highlighting the importance of peace, cooperation and environmental protection.

The celebration reflected PPNBD’s commitment to promoting peace, community service and environmental sustainability among its members, particularly the younger generation. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
