TOKYO: Typhoon Surigae, also called Typhoon No. 26, was moving west-northwest over the waters east of the Philippines on Friday towards the waters near Okinawa Island and the Kyushu region.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the typhoon’s central pressure was 1,000 hectopascals and it had a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 108 kph as of noon Friday.
It is expected to intensify by Tuesday, reaching a central pressure of 955 hectopascals and maximum instantaneous wind speeds of up to 216 kph. - Japan News/ANN
