HYDERABAD, (India): (Bernama) At least nine passengers were burnt to death after a bus was engulfed in flames on a highway in Greater Noida near New Delhi.
The tragedy occurred Wednesday (Sept 23) night on the Yamuna Expressway, a major highway connecting the Indian capital region to Agra.
Police and fire department teams rescued 20 to 25 people, Greater Noida senior police official Ravi Shankar Nim told news agency PTI.
"Nine people were found in critical condition and were taken to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead," he said.
The fire reportedly started in the front section and quickly tore through the double-decker vehicle. The bus was travelling from Delhi to Mahoba city in Uttar Pradesh. - Bernama
