CHIBA: The death toll from Typhoon Dujuan, which struck eastern Japan earlier this week, rose to nine on Wednesday after a woman was confirmed dead in Kanagawa Prefecture and a man was found in a submerged vehicle in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, Kyodo News reported, citing local authorities.

The search continues for four people missing after the storm brought heavy rain and flooding to a wide area of Chiba Prefecture.

Six of the nine victims died in Chiba and three in Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo.

The typhoon struck during the five-day Silver Week holiday, which ran through Wednesday. It caused particularly severe damage in Chiba, which had also experienced heavy rain and flooding in August and early September. - Bernama-Kyodo
