TOKYO: A tropical depression in the Pacific Ocean south of Japan is forecast to turn into a typhoon on Thursday (Sept 24), according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The tropical depression was located over the sea east of the Philippines as of 3pm on Wednesday, moving northwest-west at 20 kph.
The agency said that the storm is expected to move toward Japan’s Okinawa prefecture with an estimated strength of 970 hectopascals and a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 180 kph, or 50 metres per second, as of 3pm on Monday. - The Japan News/ANN
