Malaysian pop music fans are set to experience a spectacular concert-style tribute with GAGA Live, featuring Donna Marie, an internationally recognised Lady Gaga tribute performer known for her live vocals, dramatic costumes and high-energy choreography.
Presented by MyTicket Holdings and MyMember, GAGA Live will stage two shows in Malaysia, beginning at EX8 Collective Concert Hall, Subang, on Friday (Sept 25). The show is scheduled to begin at 8.30pm, with doors opening at 7pm.
GAGA Live goes beyond simply performing Lady Gaga's greatest hits. The production has been created as a complete concert experience combining live vocals, dance, costumes, theatre, choreography and high-impact visual production.
Donna Marie has built her career over more than a decade as a Lady Gaga tribute performer, taking her production to international stages including theatres, festivals, cruise ships and major events.
Donna's remarkable resemblance to Lady Gaga is only part of the experience, with her live vocal ability forming a key element of the GAGA Live production.
Donna has also met Lady Gaga in person, with the global superstar reacting to the striking similarities in both her appearance and voice. Donna's performances have also gained attention after being shared through Lady Gaga's social media platform.
According to Donna Marie, bringing GAGA Live to Malaysia is particularly special as the production is designed to deliver an experience far beyond a conventional tribute performance.
“I want audiences in Malaysia to feel the energy of a Lady Gaga concert from the moment they walk into the venue. This isn't simply about singing her songs. It's about the music, fashion, choreography, theatre and connecting with the audience,” when meeting the Malaysian media on Wednesday (Sept 23).
She said every element of the production has been carefully considered, including the costumes, musical arrangements, choreography and overall stage performance.
“I've been performing this show for many years, but every time I step onto the stage, I still want to give one hundred per cent. Malaysia is very special to us, and I can't wait to meet the Little Monsters in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru,” she said.
"I promise the music fans that it will be one show that they will never forget and also keep it always in their hearts."
Donna Marie will be joined by five international professional dancers – Giuseppe Morra, Emma Tomkins, Lizzy-Lou Koster, Will Garner and Pablo Sánchez Feltrer.
The dancers bring experience across multiple disciplines including ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, musical theatre, commercial dance and international stage productions.
Their professional credits include performances at the Royal Albert Hall, projects involving international brands and productions, as well as work across theatre, television, music videos and commercial performances.
Together with Donna, the dancers will strengthen the visual and choreographic elements of GAGA Live, bringing the production closer to the scale and energy of a full pop concert.
Lady Gaga fans will also be taken through different eras of her music career with a setlist featuring some of her most recognisable hits.
Songs scheduled to be performed include 'Abracadabra, Dead Dance, Always Remember Us This Way, Paparazzi, Alejandro, Marry The Night, Stupid Love, Rain On Me, Telephone, Applause, Million Reasons, Shallow, Die With A Smile, Just Dance, Bad Romance and Poker Face.
The show will also feature several medleys and interludes, including the Mayhem Medley, incorporating songs such as Abracadabra, Judas, Aura and Garden of Eden', while 'Edge of Glory' is listed as the show's encore performance.
The full production also features multiple costume changes, choreography inspired by Lady Gaga's performances and music videos, large-scale visual backdrops and live audience interaction.
To make it an even more super night, Malaysian rising singer-actress Natasha Sass, who won much admiration in the recent TV3 drama, Yes! Captain Zul Aaryan, will join Marie on stage for several duet numbers.
"I'm so excited to be included in the show with Donna (Marie). Actually, I actually did perform with her in Jakarta previously, and I'm so grateful to be given a chance to sing and perform with her again," said Natasha.
According to a representative of the organiser, GAGA Live was selected because the production offers a concept rarely presented in its full form in Malaysia.
“We didn't want to bring in a tribute show that relies solely on the performer's physical resemblance. GAGA Live offers the complete production package – Donna performs live, supported by professional dancers, choreography, costumes, visuals and theatrical elements. Our aim is for audiences to walk into the venue and feel as though they are watching a genuine concert production.”
The organiser also sees Malaysia as a market with a strong Lady Gaga fan community, as well as audiences who are increasingly receptive to high-quality international tribute productions. For the record, the singer also performed to Singaporeans in four sold-out shows last week.
“This is an experience for fans of music and live performance. Whether you've been a Little Monster since Lady Gaga's early era or became a fan through her more recent work, we want everyone to leave the venue with an experience they will remember.”
Three ticket categories are available for GAGA Live – Diamond priced at RM289, Platinum at RM239 and Party Zone at RM189. The Party Zone provides a standing area for audiences looking for a more energetic concert experience, while Diamond and Platinum offer free seating.
Fans can also purchase an optional Meet & Greet add-on for RM88, which includes an opportunity to take a photo with Donna Marie and receive a signed poster. Meet & Greet slots are limited and scheduled for 7pm. Tickets are available through MyTicket Asia.
