The haze is a real pain: The AllStar Legends Exhibition Match is now happening at MITEC KL on Oct 3


It seems the bad weather and haze in the country which is expected to persist until mid-October has seen one of the most eagerly awaited exhibition show to move indoors.

The much-anticipated AllStar Legends friendly clash featuring some of the world's great football stars was earlier lated to be held at the TM National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on Oct 3.

AllStar Sports, the local organisers and collaboration with World Football Legends (WFL) announced on Tuesday (Sept 22) that they have decided to move indoors. The match now will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) at 8.45pm but it will be a 5x5 format.

In a press release on Tuesday released by the organisers: "Due to the unpredictable weather conditions and worsening haze, and with the safety of the players, fans, and guests as our utmost priority, AllStar Sports have decided to move the match to MITEC.

"We will adjust the number of tickets being sold to fans and we will explain to those who failed to get tickets. We have a choice but the safety must be the utmost importance."

The match will feature several world-class players, all of whom have reached the pinnacle of the sport by winning the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and English Premier League. 

The confirmed line-up includes: 

AllStar Premier League Legends: Steven Gerrard – Legendary Liverpool FC Captain; Michael Owen – Ballon d'Or Winner; Ryan Giggs – 13-time Premier League Champion; Eidur Gudjohnsen – Premier League and La Liga Champion; John Arne Riise – UEFA Champions League Winner

AllStar World Legends: Alessandro Del Piero – World Cup Winner and former Juventus star; Jaap Stam – Premier League Champion and Champions League Winner; Javier Saviola – Argentina Olympic gold medalist and star striker; Fernando Morientes – UEFA Champions League Winner; and Dida – World Cup-winning goalkeeper (More player names will be unveiled closer to the date of the match).

Guided by the theme, 'Rise Above All', the event aims to unite communities through the power of sport, bringing fans together across generations to relive iconic moments and share their passion for football.

This is a rare opportunity for fans to witness some of the sport’s greatest icons return to the pitch. With strong interest from supporters across Malaysia and the region, the event is expected to welcome tens of thousands of fans for an unforgettable football celebration filled with world-class action, passion, and entertainment. The event is also supported by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
