TOKYO: The Emperor and Empress visited Ghibli Park on Sunday (Sept 20), a theme park in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, that brings the worlds of Studio Ghibli films to life.
The Imperial couple are visiting Aichi Prefecture to attend events including the opening ceremony of the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
Accompanied by Goro Miyazaki, a director and managing executive officer at Studio Ghibli, the Emperor and Empress toured the “Becoming Characters in Memorable Ghibli Scenes” exhibition, an interactive attraction that recreates famous scenes from the studio’s movies.
In a section devoted to “Spirited Away,” the couple sat beside No Face, one of the film’s best-known characters, and posed for a photograph taken with the Emperor’s smartphone.
In the Cat Bus Room, a children’s play area, the Emperor and Empress smiled as they spoke with local elementary school students, asking them where they were from and other questions.
The couple later travelLed to Aichi International Arena in Nagoya, where they watched the Japan-Kazakhstan women’s basketball game at the Asian Games. - The Japan News/ANN
