Bangkok temples celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi from Sept 14 to Sept 25

BANGKOK: Three Bangkok temples mark Ganesh Chaturthi from Sept 14-25, with worship ceremonies and farewell rituals in Kanchanaburi and Chonburi.

The Department of Religious Affairs, under the Culture Ministry, is inviting the public to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi 2026, with activities centred on three major Hindu temples in Bangkok.

The festival celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, revered as the deity of wisdom, success and the removal of obstacles. Residents and visitors can join worship ceremonies at the following locations.

Wat Thep Monthian

The Hindu Samaj Association is holding worship ceremonies for Ganesha from Sept 14-25.

A visarjan ceremony, bidding farewell to Ganesha, will take place on Sept 25 at Baan Chor Chang Chara Foundation in Kanchanaburi.

Wat Vishnu

The Hindu Dharma Sabha Association is organising Ganesha worship and aarti ceremonies from Sept 14-24.

These will be followed by a visarjan farewell ceremony on Sept 25 at Koh Loi Pier in Chonburi.

Wat Phra Sri Maha Uma Devi

Also known as Wat Khaek Silom, the temple’s programme lists major worship ceremonies on September 14 at 9.30am and 5.30pm.

From Sept 14-24, images depicting different forms of Ganesha will be brought out from within the temple and specially enshrined for the public to pay their respects.

Recommended offerings include flowers, fruit, modak sweets, nine incense sticks, two candles, clean water and bai sri ceremonial arrangements. - The Nation/ANN
