Cuba seeks to become a full member of BRICS

MOSCOW (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti): Cuba seeks to become a full member of BRICS, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"We are also ready to contribute, drawing on our modest experience, to strengthening this increasingly important group, which we aspire to join as full members,” Rodriguez said on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi.

BRICS plays a crucial role in preventing the proliferation of unilateral coercive measures, the minister added.

BRICS is an intergovernmental association established in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil, with South Africa joining in 2011.

In addition to these countries, it now includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.

Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are BRICS partner countries. -- BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
