Recognition from the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) for the Diploma in Accounting (AA101) programme at Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM) campuses provides added value to students in developing their career pathways and pursuing professional qualifications in the field of accounting.
The recognition was celebrated during the Strategic Collaboration and MICPA Recognition Ceremony for the Diploma in Accounting (AA101) programme of Kolej Poly-Tech MARA, held at the Grand Hall, KPTM Bangi, on Wednesday (Sept 9).
The collaboration reflects KPTM’s commitment to ensuring that its academic programmes remain relevant, dynamic and aligned with the current needs of the industry.
MICPA’s recognition also adds value to the qualifications of students enrolled in the Diploma in Accounting (AA101), particularly by enhancing their confidence as they enter the workforce and pursue professional studies after completing their diploma.
Beyond the benefits to students, the strategic collaboration also creates opportunities for broader cooperation between KPTM and MICPA, including academic development, knowledge and expertise sharing, as well as strengthening professionalism in the accounting field.
“For KPTM, education is not merely about providing academic qualifications, but also ensuring that students acquire relevant knowledge, skills and exposure to prepare them for the realities of the working world.
“Our collaboration with MICPA strengthens this effort by adding value to the programme and providing students with a clearer pathway to build careers in accounting.
“We want KPTM graduates to not only possess academic qualifications, but also have the confidence to progress to the professional level and be ready to meet the demands of an ever-changing industry. Collaborations such as this form part of the ecosystem we are building to achieve that aspiration,” he said.
The ceremony, attended by approximately 100 guests, also included KPTM Board members and MARA Corporation Sdn. Bhd. Group Chief Executive Officer Yahaya Sani, MICPA Chief Executive Officer, and KPTMSB’s management team.
Yahya added: "This ensures what KPTM is offering accounting students is the highest recognition in the country, and we hope more students will come in for these accounting courses."
Meanwhile, MICPA's chief executive officer, Seri Idawaty Mat Zain, said that MICPA is very happy with the standard of the accounting courses offered by KPTM.
"The lecturers are among the best, and the standard is very high, and MICPA is more than happy to recognise the programmes that are offered in KPTM," said Seri Idawaty.
The recognition is also seen as an important achievement in KPTMSB’s efforts to strengthen its position as an educational institution that emphasises academic quality, industry engagement and the professional development of its graduates.
At the same time, MICPA’s recognition is expected to enhance the confidence of students and parents in the Diploma in Accounting (AA101) programme, while adding value to efforts to attract school leavers to choose accounting as an education and career pathway.
For the record, Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTMSB) is a wholly owned education institution of MARA Corporation (MARA CORP), offering 54 programmes ranging from foundation to professional studies. KPTMSB, which started in 1983, operates six KPTM campus branches and one university-status institution, Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM), offering a wide range of disciplines including information technology, computer science, health sciences, social sciences, accounting, business management, engineering, humanities and bioindustry.
