Several people, mostly students feared trapped as muti-storey building collapses in South Delhi

NEW DELHI (Xinhua): Several people, mostly students, were feared trapped under the debris after a multi-storey building collapsed in south Delhi's Satya Niketan area on Sunday, local police confirmed.

Several teams of the National Disaster Response Force were carrying out rescue and relief work at the spot.

"At least four students have been taken out so far and sent to a local hospital. Rescue work is ongoing. Ambulances have been arranged," said a local police official over the phone.

There are a large number of multi-storey buildings in the Satya Niketan area housing mostly students, as the area is surrounded by Delhi University's colleges, besides several coaching institutes.

Further details were awaited. -- Xinhua
