Kayangan, a new cultural dining experience celebrating the rich heritage of the Malay community and the wider Nusantara region, officially premiered at Aneka Walk, SA Sentral, Shah Alam, with the debut of “Hikayat Nusantara”, an exclusive cultural production by multi-award-winning producer KRU Studios.
Inspired by the traditional art of Wayang Kulit, Hikayat Nusantara takes audiences on a visual journey through the history, legends and living traditions of the Nusantara.
Combining storytelling with music, performing arts, Silat and immersive digital technology, the production presents Malay heritage through a contemporary entertainment experience designed for audiences of all generations.
The performance explores the rise of the great Malay kingdoms, legendary seafarers who journeyed across the ancient seas, the artistry and valour of Silat and the traditions of Wayang Kulit and the Tok Dalang, before celebrating the unity and cultural diversity of modern Malaysia.

Hikayat Nusantara is brought to life through state-of-the-art LED displays, surround sound and theatrical lighting, creating an intimate and immersive setting where traditional storytelling meets modern production technology.
Complementing the performance is The Kayangan Table, featuring an authentic traditional Malay buffet specially curated by Datuk Chef Zam.
Drawing inspiration from traditional menus and recipes passed down through generations, the dining experience celebrates the flavours, heritage and culinary traditions of Malaysia. Each dish forms part of Kayangan’s broader storytelling experience, allowing guests to discover Nusantara culture not only through what they see and hear, but also through what they taste.
President and CEO of KRU Group Datuk Norman Abdul Halim, also a Malaysian pop star of the top sibling group KRU, said: "This is a new, unique experience for all in Malaysia. And it is also a project to push tourism in Malaysia in the heart of Selangor's capital city. I always wanted
to be involved in a new business venture that is unique and that is Kayangan - where one can learn our history and at the same time enjoy a very good traditional treat."

He added, the concept has been designed not merely as a buffet dinner or cultural performance, but as an integrated evening experience where cuisine, culture and performing arts come together.
Kayangan aims to create an accessible platform for Malaysians to rediscover and celebrate their cultural heritage while presenting the richness of Malaysia and the Nusantara to international visitors in an engaging and contemporary format.
“Food has always been one of the most beautiful ways to bring people together. Every recipe carries cherished memories, every flavour reflects our heritage,” said Chef Zam, who has curated the Kayangan dining experience around authentic Malay culinary traditions.
Positioned as “Created for Malaysians, Made for the World,” Kayangan welcomes families and friends, domestic and international travellers, travel and tour groups, the corporate sector, and diplomatic and official guests.

Kayangan is presented at Aneka Walk, SA Sentral, Shah Alam, a lifestyle destination operated by KRU Entertainment. The venue provides an elegant alfresco cultural dining environment supported by professional entertainment infrastructure, enabling guests to experience Malaysian cuisine, hospitality and performing arts within one destination.
The September opening-month experience is offered at a special introductory price of RM89.90 for adults and RM59.90 for children.
For the record, Kayangan is a collaboration between Rich Talents Resources Sdn Bhd, Kruniverse Sdn Bhd and Runningmen Celebrations Sdn Bhd, bringing together expertise in culinary arts, hospitality, entertainment and event management to create a distinctive cultural dining experience for both local and international guests.
