PHNOM PENH: Cambodia's working-age population reached approximately 13.1 million individuals, comprising 6.8 million women and 6.3 million men, said the results of Cambodia Labour Force Survey Results 2025 released by the National Institute of Statistics of the Ministry of Planning on Wednesday (Sept 2).
The working-age population remains predominantly rural, with 7.8 million residents compared to 5.3 million in urban centres, the results said.
The national labour force participation rate stood at about 72 per cent, as 28 per cent of the working-age population (roughly 3.7 million people) remains outside the labour force.
The overall employment rate for individuals aged 15 and older was recorded at 69 per cent (approximately 9.1 million people), the results showed. The service sector has emerged as the primary driver of employment at 43 per cent, followed by industry at 29.4 per cent and agriculture at 27.6 per cent.
The unemployment rate stood at around three per cent, representing more than 340,000 individuals.
The average monthly wage for primary employment is US$300, with a gender wage disparity of US$315 for men versus US$280 for women.
Minister of Planning Bin Trachhai said that the survey delivers high-quality, reliable, and standardised statistical data on Cambodia's labour market dynamics. - Xinhua
