BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei has been experiencing hazy conditions since August 18, 2026, with horizontal visibility ranging between six kilometres and nine kilometres recorded at the Brunei International Airport Meteorological Observation Station.
On August 31, 2026, horizontal visibility dropped further to two kilometres due to worsening haze conditions across the Sultanate.
The Regional Haze Map issued by the Asean Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC) at 5.02pm on August 31, 2026 indicated that hotspots remain detected, particularly over the southern region of Borneo, with south-westerly winds blowing towards the northern part of the island across Brunei. The weather is forecast to remain hot and dry with minimal rainfall activity expected through the first week of September 2026.
Given the persistent hotspots and prevailing south-westerly winds, transboundary haze is expected to continue affecting Brunei over the coming days.
