Typhoon Saudel makes landfall along coast of East China

HANGZHOU: Typhoon Saudel, the 18th typhoon of this year, made landfall along the coast of east China's Zhejiang Province on Friday (Aug 28), reported Xinhua.

The typhoon packed maximum sustained winds of 35 metres per second (Force 12) near its centre, according to the provincial meteorological observatory.

Saudel made landfall along the coast of Yuhuan City, a city under the jurisdiction of Taizhou City, Zhejiang, at around 8.05am on Friday.

Zhejiang raised its typhoon emergency response to Level I, the highest level, at 8 pm on Thursday.
