NEW DELHI: Alleging corruption in the name of dog sterilisation, the Leader of the Opposition in the Khandwa Municipal Corporation of Madhya Pradesh dressed up as a dog and went to a public hearing to demand a thorough probe into his allegations.

The unique protest proved effective, and the authorities have ordered an inquiry into the allegations.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (Aug 18), when Khandwa Municipal Corporation Leader of the Opposition Deepak Rathore reached a public hearing dressed as a dog.

In his complaint, Rathore accused the Khandwa Municipal Corporation of corruption in the name of dog sterilisation.

He said the funds being spent by the corporation on the sterilisation of stray dogs should be investigated.

“If government funds were misused in the name of sterilisation, the entire matter should be investigated impartially and action should be taken against the culprits,” Rathore demanded.

Additional Collector Kashiram Badole told reporters that some people came to the public hearing wearing dog masks and submitted applications alleging misappropriation of funds meant for dog sterilisation.

The official said a committee would be formed to investigate the matter. - The Statesman/ANN
