Lao People’s Revolutionary Party calls for stronger cadre development

VIENTIANE: The Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith (pic), has stressed the need to strengthen cadre development and political training as Laos enters a new period of development.

He highlighted the need for Party cadre development during a visit to the National Academy of Politics and Public Administration (NAPPA) in Vientiane on Tuesday (Aug 18).

His visit highlighted the academy’s important role in training and preparing Party and State personnel who play a key role in carrying out the work of the Party and State.

Thongloun met with teaching staff and leadership and management personnel and gave advice about their work.

He advised that more attention be paid to political theory and ideological training so that personnel better understand their responsibilities and carry out their duties in line with Party resolutions.

The advice comes as the Party works to strengthen the quality and capacity of its leadership and management personnel under the priorities set for the new period. Leaders and managers are expected to translate the Party’s policies and resolutions into practical work and respond effectively to Laos’ development needs.

The National Academy of Politics and Public Administration plays an important role in preparing Party and State personnel through political and administrative training. Its work is closely linked to efforts to develop capable leaders who can respond to the country’s changing needs.

Thongloun’s visit also encouraged teaching staff and management personnel to strengthen their sense of responsibility and ensure that training remains closely connected to the practical work of the Party and State.

The emphasis on political training underlines the importance of ensuring that personnel at different levels share a clear understanding of the Party’s goals and priorities. This is particularly important as government agencies and organisations begin carrying out the tasks set by the 12th National Party Congress.

The Head of NAPPA, Anouphab Tounalom, who is a member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat and Secretary of the academy’s Party Committee, together with the academy’s Party Committee and leadership, welcomed Thongloun and his delegation.

Anouphab then reported on the academy’s overall situation and work undertaken during the previous period.

The visit placed leadership development and political training at the centre of attention, underlining the need to equip Party and State personnel with the knowledge, skills and sense of responsibility needed to perform their duties effectively in the coming years. - Vientiane Times/ANN
