YANGON: 156 people involved in online gambling fraud in Kengtung Township were arrested along with business equipment.
At around 7am on Friday (Aug 7), security forces conducted an investigation to prevent online gambling operators from establishing a base in the relevant areas and to prevent online gambling from being carried out.
They investigated and investigated a building near the Naung Lay Fish Pond Restaurant in Naung Lay Village, Kapha Village Tract, Kyaung Tong Township, Shan State (Eastern Region) based on a tip-off that illegal online gambling activities were being carried out.
During the search, 140 Chinese men, four women, one Laotian woman, eight Myanmar men, three women, a total of 148 men and eight women, a total of 156 people were arrested along with 658 various phones, 134 All In One computers, 28 laptops, three WIFI ROUTERS, 13 STAR LINK GAN-3, 15 CPUs, five UPSs, one generator (120 KV), one generator (155 KV), one refrigerator, and one freezer.
After the necessary investigations are completed, effective and strict action will be taken against those arrested for engaging in online gambling fraud, in accordance with existing laws, and the confiscated business equipment will be processed in accordance with procedures.
The state is continuing to implement programmes to combat online gambling fraud in collaboration with neighbouring countries, regional countries, and international organisations to eliminate online gambling fraud and prevent it from establishing operations in Myanmar. - Eleven Media/ANN
