YANGON: A fighter aircraft of the Tatmadaw (Air), the air force of the Myanmar Armed Forces, crashed after being struck by a bird during a training flight in the country's Yangon region early Monday (Aug 3), according to military-owned Myawaddy TV, reported Xinhua.
The incident occurred at about 5.16 am local time near Nyaunghnapin village in Hmawbi township, Myawaddy TV said.
A bird entered the aircraft's engine, triggering a fire that caused the crash, it said, adding that the pilot safely ejected after steering the aircraft away from a residential area before abandoning it.
Security forces are carrying out necessary security operations around the crash site. No crew members were injured in the incident. - Bernama-Xinhua
