Nationwide promotion for more than 5,600 police officers

MANILA: A total of 5,602 police officers nationwide were promoted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday.

There were 1,877 commissioned officers and 3,725 non-commissioned officers promoted in several ceremonies across all police regional offices, according to data shared by the PNP.

Among the promoted commissioned officers were 1,119 police majors, 241 police captains, and 517 police lieutenants.

For the non-commissioned officer ranks, 32 were promoted to police executive master sergeants, 769 to police chief master sergeants, 68 to police senior master sergeants, 580 to police master sergeants, 1,007 to police staff sergeants, and 1,269 to police corporals.

In a speech during the ceremony at Camp Crame in Quezon City, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. told the promotees: "Leadership is not measured by rank; it is measured by character, accountability, fairness, and doing what is right even if no one is watching."

"When every citizen trusts each police officer, their trust in the entire Philippine National Police grows stronger," he added.- Inquirer/ANN
