Veteran singer/rapper turned politician Altimet makes a return to his roots with new single 'Pegang Tangan'

Amid his busy schedule fulfilling responsibilities as a Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) for Lembah Jaya, or fondly known as YB Lembah Jaya, Altimet makes an unexpected return to music with his latest single, “Pegang Tangan”, a work drawn from his personal archive of written music, now presented in collaboration with rising artist Adam Nuqris.

Released under Altimet Holdings and managed by SVLTAN Management, “Pegang Tangan” is not the result of a conventional rollout or marketing strategy, but rather a work that emerged organically from real-life moments and the evolving circumstances of both artists, one balancing public service and artistry, and the other building his identity as a newcomer in the industry.

The release first drew attention when Adam Nuqris unintentionally mentioned the track during an interview with one of the well-known local radio stations on 8 May 2026, the same date the single was officially released while sparking early speculation that was later confirmed as Altimet’s return to recording, particularly within the rap space that defined his earlier career.

“Pegang Tangan” was never designed as a commercial collaboration. Instead, it began with a song originally written and archived by Altimet, which was later reinterpreted through Adam Nuqris’ vocal perspective.

The result is a natural creative synergy between two generations: an established figure in Malaysia’s hip hop landscape and an emerging voice focused on emotionally driven storytelling.

Adam Nuqris, who was recently introduced through his solo single “Alasan”, continues to refine his artistic identity through themes of honesty, vulnerability, and lived experience, all of which are central to this collaboration.

Inspired by the bond between mother and child, “Pegang Tangan” explores a deeply human narrative that moves through different stages of life, from childhood dependence to growing independence, and eventually to moments where roles are reversed in the face of life’s challenges and health realities.

Delivered in a restrained and sincere manner, the song avoids excessive dramatization, instead focusing on emotional clarity and relatable storytelling drawn from everyday experience.

Altimet shared that the track arrived at a particularly meaningful point in his personal journey.

“This song came in a very organic way. It was never meant as a comeback or a statement, just an honest piece that came from real moments and feelings. Sometimes, the simplest songs carry the deepest meaning,” said Altimet.

Musically, “Pegang Tangan” is a mellow hip-hop piece written by Altimet and composed by Mas Dewangga. Its understated arrangement features warm, reflective production that allows space for both lyricism and vocal expression to take centre stage.

The stripped-down approach enhances the emotional weight of the narrative, keeping the focus firmly on storytelling rather than heavy production layers.

For Adam Nuqris, the collaboration represents a defining moment early in his career.

“This is more than just a collaboration for me. It’s a learning experience, understanding how a simple song can still carry deep emotional weight. I’m truly grateful to be part of this meaningful work,” said Adam Nuqris.

Both artists describe “Pegang Tangan” as a project that came together without formal planning or commercial pressure. This lack of constraint allowed the song to evolve naturally, guided purely by emotion and artistic instinct.

The absence of industry-driven expectations enabled a more honest creative process, resulting in a piece that feels intimate and unforced.

While Altimet had previously stepped away from the rap scene, “Pegang Tongan” reflects a different kind of return, one that is not framed as a full-scale comeback, but rather a personal and timely artistic expression.

It underscores that music continues to exist alongside his current public service role, not as a career shift, but as a natural extension of expression when the moment feels right.

To complement the release, an official visualiser is set to premiere. The visualiser is expected to further enhance the narrative and emotional depth of "Pegang Tangan", offering a compelling visual dimension to a song that has resonated with many listeners since its release.

Released on 8 May 2026, "Pegang Tangan" by Altimet feat. Adam Nuqris is now available on all major digital streaming platforms, including YouTube.

The song's official visualiser premiered on July 14 via Altimet's official YouTube channel, inviting audiences to experience the story behind the music through a powerful visual interpretation.
