YANGON: Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing will make an official visit to Thailand in early August, according to Asean sources on Monday (July 13).

The trip will mark President Min Aung Hlaing’s second visit to an Asean member state since assuming the presidency in April.

Earlier this month, President U Min Aung Hlaing made his first official visit to an Asean member country as president when he travelled to Laos.

Since the military assumed power on Feb 1, 2021, Myanmar has been excluded from Asean summit meetings. Thailand has since emerged as a key Asean member state advocating for Myanmar’s full reintegration into the regional bloc.

Sources have not yet disclosed a detailed schedule for President U Min Aung Hlaing’s upcoming visit to Thailand.

Prior to this planned trip, President U Min Aung Hlaing last visited Thailand in April 2025 to attend the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit held in Bangkok. - Eleven Media/ANN
