MANILA: A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted Claveria, Masbate on Tuesday (July 14) afternoon, with aftershocks expected, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to Phivolcs’ bulletin, the earthquake’s epicenter was located 20 kilometers west of Claveria at 3.04pm. It added that the earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 10 kilometers.

It also said that Reported Intensity III was recorded in Naga City. Meanwhile, Instrumental Intensities were recorded in the following areas:

Intensity II: Tabaco, Albay; Sipocot and Pili, Camarines Sur; Aroroy, Masbate; Mulanay, Quezon; Bulusan, Sorsogon

Intensity III: Legazpi City, Albay; Gumaca, Quezon; Sorsogon City, Sorsogon

Intensity I: Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte; Sagnay, Camarines Sur; Roxas City, Capiz; Panganiban, Catanduanes; Boac, Marinduque; Batuan, Masbate; Mauban, Quezon; Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon
