TOKYO: (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) Only four of the 45 Japan-linked vessels that had remained in the Persian Gulf amid escalating tensions in West Asia are still there, Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Yasushi Kaneko said on Saturday (July 11), reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"Another 22 Japan-linked vessels have transited the Strait of Hormuz. Among them are six large oil tankers bound for Japan," Kaneko told a press conference.

Japan-linked vessels passed through the strait between July 7 and July 9, with no health issues reported among crew members, he added.

The six tankers are carrying a total of approximately 1.8 million kilolitres of oil and are expected to take about 20 days to reach Japan by the end of July.

At the time the Strait of Hormuz was effectively blocked, 45 Japan-linked vessels were in the region. - Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti
