NEW DELHI: A romantic train journey turned into a controversy after a First AC cabin of the Indian Railways was transformed into a private honeymoon-style setup.
A video showing the decorated ‘Honeymoon Express’ coach went viral on social media, but the celebration soon attracted the attention of railway authorities, who took action over alleged rule violations.
The viral video showed a cabin of train number 110002 Nandedgram Express decorated with balloons, flowers and thousands of rose petals.
The walls of the compartment carried an “I Love You” message, giving the space the look of a private romantic suite.
The visuals quickly caught the attention of internet users, with many surprised to see such a grand decoration inside a railway coach while the train was operating.
Private decorators arranged the surprise for a couple
The decoration was carried out by Maharashtra-based Rahat Room Decoration. According to the organisers, the cabin was booked for a couple from Jalna who wanted a special travel experience.
The decoration team said they prepared the coach before the couple arrived.
The couple travelled by car from Aurangabad to Jalna railway station, while the team entered the train earlier and completed the setup. After the arrangements were finished, the couple boarded the train from Jalna.
The romantic surprise, however, soon became a matter of concern for railway officials.
Railway calls it a security breach
Indian Railways said the decorator entered the coach without official permission, describing the incident as a serious security lapse.
Authorities stated that a case has been registered against the decorator under the Railways Act.
The charges include unauthorised entry into a railway coach, travelling without a valid ticket and trespassing on railway premises.
The railway also took action against staff members connected with the incident.
Chief Ticket Inspector Girish Kumar, who was on duty at the time, was suspended with immediate effect.
A departmental inquiry has also been ordered to examine how the unauthorised decoration was allowed and to identify those responsible.
Internet divided over the unusual celebration
The video received mixed reactions online. Many users appreciated the gesture by calling it unique and memorable way for couple to celebrate special moment. Some praised the creativity.
However, others questioned whether such decorations should be permitted inside railway coaches. Concerns were raised about passenger safety, cleanliness and possible risks.
Some users pointed out that railway coaches have strict rules to ensure safety and comfort for all passengers. - The Statesman/ANN
