Japan PM Takaichi wins jewellery best dresser award, wears pearl accessories to award ceremony

TOKYO: Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi won a special award at the Japan Jewellery Best Dresser Awards on Saturday (July 4).

Wearing gold earrings and a necklace adorned with pearls, Takaichi said at the award ceremony in Tokyo that Japan’s pearl farming and processing technologies “embody Japan’s underlying strength.”

She said she wears the pearl accessories, which are a memento from her mother, during her overseas trips.

“I want to promote the excellence of Japanese products, including jewelry, to the world,” she said.
