BEIJING: (Bernama-Xinhua) China's national observatory on Saturday (June 6) issued a yellow rainstorm alert, warning that downpours will hit parts of the country, reported Xinhua.
From 8pm Saturday (June 6) to 8pm Sunday (June 7), heavy rain to torrential downpours will affect parts of southwest, central, east and south China, according to the National Meteorological Centre (NMC).
Short-duration heavy rainfall is expected in some of these regions, with maximum hourly precipitation exceeding 80 millimetres in some areas, accompanied by severe convective weather, including thunderstorms and strong winds.
The NMC has advised local authorities to take precautions against heavy rainstorms and to implement drainage measures in urban areas and on farmland.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued an orange alert for mountain torrents in parts of northeastern Guizhou on Saturday.
Authorities in the aforementioned regions are urged to step up real-time monitoring, issue timely warnings, and arrange evacuations when necessary.
