Two people die in fire at oil warehouse in Myeik, Myanmar


YANGON: A fire broke out at an oil warehouse in Shan Chaung Ward, Myeik, killing two people.

The fire broke out at the warehouse located within Kalwin Village Tract, Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region, at around 8am on Sunday (May 17).

The Myeik District Fire Department, led by District Fire Chief U Zaw Win, dispatched three fire engines, three water tankers, charity organisations to the scene.

The fire was brought under control at 8.35am.

"The explosion coming from U Hong Nu gas station, shook nearby houses. I saw smoke rising. It was raining when the fire broke out," said a local.
